We are working on the next release of Reports module for activeCollab and want your feedback on two new reports we are adding: People and System Reports.

We are close to completing development on this. You can see a few screenshots of the new version here on activeCollab forums.

People Reports

Allow you to filter users and see their activity stats. Monitor work progress and hour logs easily. Here’s how we are planning this screen to be.

System Reports

There is no way to find your overall system statistics with activeCollab. Here’s a simple screen that gives you all the “birds eye view” numbers you may need.

What do we want?

We want your feedback on the reporting fields included, the overall look and feel and the ease of use. All suggestions are welcome.

Thanks in advance!

Hi,

I see the screenshot and i have a suggestion : for the statistics , say me if we can have the principe of statistics for one company . You show for all companies and that is interesting to follow for every one company (specialy for the total weight files used.

Thank you for your suggestion and review.

We did think about introducing Company reports – stats about projects / people / system usage of a particular company. We will see if we can accommodate them.

We can’t promise a date for the next release, but we are working hard on it. :)

again, reports by client would be a big boon, also something along the lines of average ticket time might be useful . i.e how long a ticket takes from being opened to being closed – It might not be used on all projects, but we have a few bug tracking projects where the average time from call to close would be really useful

Thank you for your suggestions Kevin. We are considering them. :)

We used average closing time of tickets extensively when we used Mantis to track bugs!!

The “people” report / hours spent is very helpful, however since we are a large organization we typically need to see this by department or work group more than per individual.

Our filters are setup that way, where we had reporting setup in AC per department. A department head would run the report of all open tickets in their department and then drill down to the user. For instance we have 3 development teams and I need to see the status of team one with 5 developers and see the workload. They are actually involved in 1 primary project and 2 smaller projects at the same time…

Thanks for the feedback. How do you group people into departments? Do you do it by project groups? It would be useful to see overall stats and then drill down to people. I am not sure if we can do it for this release, but would surely like to add it! The only issue is how to group people…

I understand that grouping would be a problem… Unless you could follow (use) the filters that are setup through the “Assignments” section of AC (Thats how we do it).

We create a filter named “Department X” and use the “Show assignments” Assigned to: “Selected users”….

We add all the users in that department/group to that filter and now run reports on their activities as a group.

Looks good, one comment we have -

We don’t really use time tracking and so would like to see pie graph using the # of items assigned to the person in addition to time spent.

Thanks.

@Randy: That’s a great idea. Thanks!

Is this now in the 1.5 version?

Do you have actual screenshots of the People and System reports?

Is there a way, while in the planning phase, to set a date range and see if a certain team member is available at a particular time?

13 appsMagnet Team November 12, 2009 at 2:04 pm

@JBM: We are getting ready. Taking longer than expected – as usual!

@Randy: This will be 1.6 version. Which will be our next version. We will be posting the screenshots soon.

@Joakim: Sorry, that’s not possible. One reason is because we can’t really figure out if the person is free or not – there could be multiple assignees to an item, we don’t still have a way to find out % allocation of a person on different projects etc.

This looks really good! when do you have the 1.6 release planned?
