I am looking to have an online trial/demo as relevant for some of the modules like Assignments Plus, Quick Add, Housekeeping, Inline Pagination, Tickets Plus and Incremental Back up
Sorry, but we don’t have an online trial / demo yet.
I have purchased four AppsMagnet modules for activeCollab and am pleased with the results. They work pretty much without a hitch. The Planning module is especially useful. In fact, aC is only 50% useful without it as navigating around aC to create a large project is very discouraging. Our management has gotten into the aC habit largely because the Planning feature makes it almost as useful as Microsoft Project. But do let me make a couple of suggestions: (1) Planning ought to have a field that sums the estimated times for the project, either at the bottom or, preferably, at the top; and (2) Planning would benefit greatly if two columns were added for Estimated Cost and Actual Cost for each line item such as tasks, tickets or milestones. The Costs columns should sum the same way as the Time columns now do: all the tasks under a ticket sum to the total of a ticket, and all the subtotals of the tickets under a milestone should sum to a sub total for the milestone. And it would be nice if all the subtotals of the milestones would be depicted in a total project cost field next to the total project time field. This is the one thing that is missing that would make it a rival for Microsoft Project and, loaded into activeCollab, would make activeCollab an irresistible substitute for Microsoft Project or most any other online project planning system now available. So, food for thought. Great work!
Thanks! Estimates do automatically total up. You can check this under Settings menu in Planning module. As for the cost – that’s on our list for a future version
Per your response to my posting re suggested improvements to the Planning module (I have v.1.7.3 loaded), I checked under Settings to see if there’s a setting regarding time totals for estimates. The only thing I see that could be what you mean is the “Work Hours Per Day” setting. What I meant in my suggestion to total up all hours for a project is that the Planning tab ought to show the total number of estimated hours that have been entered into line items. For example, if the estimated times for three milestones are 6h, 10h30i, and 12h15i, then the total of 28h45i (or 28.75 days) should be calculated and shown at the top or the bottom of the planning sheet. the sums don’t appear to go past the milestone level. This is just a suggestion that would help a project manager quickly tell how a project is adding up without having to manually sum up the totals of the milestones. By the way, why does the Planning module symbolize minutes as “i” instead of “m”?
Is the reporting addon going to be updated for AC 3?
