Planning module provides three view modes – a tree like Outline view, Cards view to focus on level 2 items and Timeline view to see the Gantt chart of your project. Apart from project planning and managing, Planning module also helps you get things done. With our enhancements to Assignment Filters, you get additional filter options, can group tasks up to four levels, see everything you need to do on a single page, and quickly complete / edit / track time on tasks.

Accessing Reports

• Project and Finance Reports: Click on Reports link in left most main menu, then click on “Reports Plus”.
• Time Reports: Click on Reports link in left most main menu, then click on “Time Reports Plus”.
• People Reports: Click on People link in left most main menu, then click on a person’s name. You will see her report card under profile details on right.

BTW, Reports Plus works on mobile devices too! Access activeCollab from your mobile web browser and navigate to a report you want. It will adapt to your screen size automatically.

Comments Plus was rejected by activeCollab team because it adds functionality that’s different from how stock activeCollab works, has potential for confusion, and uses an integration method that activeCollab no longer wants to support.

Confidential Items is something we offered to contribute to activeCollab core so that everyone would benefit. But activeCollab team believes there is no need for a confidential visibility in an open collaboration system like activeCollab.

Similarly, Hide People uses an integration method that activeCollab no longer wants to support.

We’ve made these modules with great care. They solve problems for real life collaboration situations. So, go ahead and buy the bundle if you need this functionality, but be aware that we are crossing into “red zone” with activeCollab here!

How does it work?

When someone tries to login to activeCollab, POP3 Authentication checks to authenticate them with activeCollab first. If that does not work, it will try to authenticate the user with the defined mail server. If that works, it will create a new user in activeCollab (within the owner company and using the default role).

Administrators can then change user’s role if required, and assign them to projects. User can also update their profile – including changing their password.

If user changes her password in activeCollab that is not sent back to the email server. But if their email account password changes, and they try to login with new password, the new password will be updated in activeCollab as well.

We use LDAP for central authentication. How to do use LDAP for logging in?

If you use LDAP / Active Directory for centralized authentication, your email system would be using it already. POP3 Authentication works with your email system. So it would work automatically. You don’t need to purchase LDAP module / connector for activeCollab.

We don’t use LDAP. Can we still use POP3 Authentication?

Of course you can! As long as you use an email server, you can use POP3 Authentication module to let your team members login to activeCollab with the same password as their email account password!

Is this easy to setup? I am no system admin!

Absolutely! You just need your email server information – server address, port, whether it uses SSL/TLS. Plus you need to make a small change to config.php file within activeCollab. All these steps are absolutely easy!
